A daring personality in a package of great voice is what Thomas DeCarlo Callaway is. He is a rap singer, song writer and also a record producer and became popular by his alias name Cee Lo Green. He began his career when he was 18 years old with the Atlanta hip-hop group, Goodie Mob. It was during this time that his mother died and his love for his mom is reflected in most of his songs throughout his career.

Cee-Lo was appreciated for the raps and hooks in the singles “Cell Therapy” and “Soul Food” from the album ‘Soul Food’ released by Goodie Mob in 1995. The group’s sophomore album, “Still Standing” in 1998 received enough praise but couldn’t make it at the sales counters. He took more creative interest in the third album “World Party” but soon after left the group to look for a solo singing career with Arista Records.

His first album with Arista was ‘Cee-Lo Green and His Perfect Imperfections’. The album had guest appearances by fellow Dungeon Family members. The album wasn’t a big hit but he gained some fame from the track “Closet Freak”. The second one, ‘Cee Lo Green.. Is the Soul Machine’, was of well explored southern rap music. With the low sale record of both these albums, Arista records dropped him.

Green then worked with DJ Danger Mouse on various projects like “What U Sittin’ On?” from ‘Ghetto Pop Life’ and “Benzi Box” from “The Mouse and the Mask”. They then formed the duo called Gnarls Barkley and released the first album “St. Elsewhere” on April 24 2006. The album topped the charts in UK. The single “Crazy” from the album was tagged by Rolling Stone as the #1 song of the decade.

In August 2010, he released his single “F*ck You!” to YouTube and this became a great hit. Cee-Lo Green’s recent album “The Lady Killer” was certified Gold in the UK.
